dancing-dancing
last night i had a dream about you
in this dream i'm dancing right beside you

the glorious sun that has been blazing tirelessly this week has given in to a gloomy, overcast day and i am feeling a bit out of sorts. nothing a good, long hug wont cure, maybe.
(hypothesis: i am photosynthetic.)

revisiting pontian...

first stop in taman sentosa, jb, dad is tasked to chop down the ailing banana tree and we drag the carcass under the hot hot sun to the rubbish dump.

later in pontian, we go to the chea huat factory where Yong and the very bubbly Cheh were. the factory now comprises three spacey blocks; i remember grandpa's small cramped shophouse with cartons of milk (all for me, yes) and stacks of rice stacked up to the ceiling. then we go to the cookie factory which supplies bengawan solo, lavender and other $hops and we pack the car boot with the same cookies bought at a much better price.

lok-lok stall
and then we go to Lao Sim's bustling flower shop. as luck would have it, Yong came by with stuff we'd left behind in the factory and i get a treat at the lok-lok stall in the street. yummy! so, there are all sorts of food (think cockles, liver, squid, siew mai, mushrooms, bak kwa.. ) on a stick which you dip in boiling soup to cook, or grill, or deep fry (imagine deep-fried bak kwa..) and then you drench everything in this tasty satay sauce.

heart pain
it was heart-wrenching watching this stooping ah pek push his rickety stall with all the traffic brushing past him but tough as it was, he refused help to get to the end of the street. at night, when we returned (to fetch yet another thing we'd left behind) to the town, we drove past him sitting alone under his large umbrella in the corner of the street and i couldn't tell if he was dozing off or not, all hunched up.

post-patho music-filled moments aplenty

rockband-
well, the rain exploded with a mighty crash as we fell into the sun
and the first one said to the second one there, i hope you're having fun
and the jailer man and sailor sam, were searching every one
for the band on the run, band on the ru-un..
(patho party like a rockstar!)

acoustic-
to ease to ease ease ease to ease to ease e-ve-ry fear :)
and dry up e-ve-ry tear
and make it ve-ry clear...

and we go to chinatown

and have some yummy dinner but are (maybe it was just me) horribly disappointed when limcheeguan bak kwa is sold out

and i go little india (twice)
and have some ?bangladeshi/bengali jhaal muri (hot puffed rice), and special pongal. ("ponggalo ponggal!" so, Pongal is the name of the harvest festival, as well as the rice dish, and also means "to boil over"..)

and
i need sleep.

after one week of curling up in the study room, my cerebral cortex is caseating. flipping through some chapters of my crummy hand-me-down textbook for the first time, and some other chapters for what seems like the first time, sets off panic attacks. the latter more so. mucho gracias to friends who have offered comfort by simply reminding me that i am not alone in this sad situation, and also folks who offer sweet bellywarming cheeriness and more. it's pleasing to note that fridays still retain their charm in the saddest of weeks after all, starting with a morning of bleating 'supertrooper...suppapatroopapa' and 'mama-mia' and ending with a mad maply syrupy sugarrrush, without encountering any creeps (not crisp).

oh, patho like a rockstar, fellas.
and hey, elvis loved peanut butter and banana sandwiches. charlie-charlie and i are not the only strange ones who dream about peanutbutterbananahoney/ peanutbutterhoneybanana jaffles.

i knew i should not have stayed home today. home is study-fail. especially when the highly energetic baby (dancing dancing:) ) stays over for the weekend. but it's nice, to indulge in the TGIF feeling a little longer, and then it will be sunday. and then, soon enough, dongdongdongchiang, it will be CNY, and then.. ! (x fingers and toes madly.)

桃太郎君、happy birthday na.

什么叫情什么叫意
还不是大家自已骗自己
什么叫痴什么叫迷 ...

<<野玫瑰之恋>> (Wild, Wild Rose) the musical/theatre production was jolly good. stirring music from the french opera, Carmen, got us all groovin'.

and this other song is driving me nuts-

ポニョ、ポニョ、ポニョ、さかなのこ
あおい うみから やってきた
ポニョ、ポニョ、ポニョ、ふくらんだ
まんまる おなかの おんなのこ
(ponyo, ponyo, ponyo,
she is a round-bellied girl... かわいいね。^_^)

とにかく、最近、幸せです。
”いつも ありがとうございます。”

2009: y'a d'la joie!

on the last day of the year, i wake up early,
sing along to 爱像什么?(爱像星期天的早晨,像拥抱着风。)with mag-woman,
(try to) study madly, go for a chillout swim, study madly, get a caffeine rush,
eat yummy aglio olio,
wave to a bunch of ?burmese workers making music at their jolly new year's eve party by the road,
catch fireworks in a not-so-secret spot that's almost perfect,
listen to a ("i'm not!!") drunk friend ramble on about good wishes for the next 365 days.
not a bad way to start what i'd expect to be a colourful year.. (think !ndia-in-a-few-weeks'-time. oh boy.)

happy new year, singapore
the photo quality is crap but wow, what a view we had.

----------------

the same stream of life that runs through my veins night and day
runs through the world and dances in rhythmic measures.

it is the same life that shoots in joy through the dust of the earth
in numberless blades of grass
and breaks into tumultuous waves of leaves and flowers.

it is the same life that is rocked in the ocean-cradle of birth
and of death, in ebb and in flow.

i feel my limbs are made glorious by the touch of this world of life.
and my pride is from the life-throb of ages dancing in my blood this moment.
